• Tillandsia ixioides Griseb.: is a smallish epiphyte forming rosettes of erect, very stiff, silver leaves. It has pendent canary-yellows flower. Distribution: Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina.
• Tillandsia ixioides subs. viridiflora (Rauh) Gouda: The main differences are the hanging inflorescences with green flowers and the more silvery cinereous leaves. Distribution: Bolivia.
